Introduction of Licensing Team Leader

Minutes:

The new Licensing Team Leader introduced himself to the Committee providing a background of his previous experience and future goals for the next 12 months:

 

  • Review of Sex Establishment policy
  • Review of Street Trading policy
  • Taxi use of electric vehicles
  • Extended roll out of the Ask Angela scheme across Pub watch
  • Continued enforcement action against taxi drivers/Licensed Premises

 

Cllr. Paul Hartshorn expressed his concerns surrounding the Licensing Teams ability to enforce Licensing regulations during the Councils closed hours.

The Licensing Team Leader advised that he works closely with the police and is happy to work flexibly to suit the needs of the service. He also advised that recent conversations have been taking place to review upcoming job adverts for the department to allow flexible working hours.

 

The Chairman, Cllr. Nick Chapman asked that the Licensing Team Leader provides an update back to the committee in approx. 6 months on how recruitment is progressing and if the introduction of flexible hours has increased the level of enforcement.

Update on Training/Work Programme

Members will receive a verbal update at the meeting on upcoming training and work programme for the Licensing and Regulatory Committee.

The Licensing Team Leader advised the committee that a training session will be arranged in the new year to cover Taxi Licensing.
