Election of Chairman

Minutes:

The Clerk invited nominations for the election of Chairman for the Leicester Forest West Parish Meeting.

The minutes of the meeting held on 18 May 2105 ,as circulated, were approved as a correct record.

Update on the Fosse Villages Neighbourhood Plan

Minutes:

The Chairman updated the residents on the Fosse Villages Neighbourhood Plan. The definition of the plan had been approved by Blaby District Council. The process would now include finalisation of a Pre –submission Plan for approval by Parish Councils.

 

Cllr Maggie Wright explained that LFW came under the umbrella of Thurlaston Parish Council.

 

The Chairman reported that she would produce a newsletter to residents, Cllr Maggie Wright also said that she would raise the matter of a newsletter for residents of LFW at the Thurlaston Parish Meeting.

Strategic Rail Interchange Development

 

Residents discussed the possibility of a Strategic Rail Interchange Development which would include opening up the south bound access at Junction 2 of the M69, creating a rail freight interchange on the Leicester – Birmingham line between Burbage Common and Elmesthorpe and effectively creating a huge distribution centre between the M69 Jcn2  to Sapcote/ Stoney Stanton.

 

County Councillor E White advised that any  plans would have to be determined by the Secretary of State at Westminster.

 

 

 

Police Authority Rural Watch

 

Residents and Councillors discussed the Police Authority Rural Watch  which is a free scheme set up to support communities in their fight against rural crime.

 

The scheme consists of police officers and a network of people who share information about crimes in rural areas, and help reduce the opportunities for crime to take place.

 Grass Verges – Peckleton Lane and Dans Lane

 

It was reported that the grass verges on Peckleton Lane and Dans Lane were overgrown and  the Chairman confirmed that she would contact the Highways Department.
