Considered – report of the HR Service Manager.

 

Prior to the Chairman welcoming attendees, Cllr. Terry Richardson informed all members of the hearing, Cllr. Nigel Grundy the usual chair may have a potential conflict of interest regarding the item on today's hearing and has recused themselves from the chair for this meeting, therefore, Cllr. Richardson would be Chairing the meeting.

 

The Chairman then thanked and welcomed everyone to the meeting to hear the Appeal against dismissal and asked elected members and officers to introduce themselves.

 

The Chairman invited the Appellant to present the case for the appeal and to call any witnesses.

 

The Appellant’s representative discussed the grounds for appeal, members of the Committee asked questions of Disciplining Officer and the Appellant.

 

The meeting adjourned at 11.47am for a short comfort break and reconvened at 11.55am.

 

The Appellant’s first witness was called as the meeting reconvened, and their second witness at 12.05pm.

 

Members of the Committee asked questions of the two Witnesses and the Appellant.

 

The Appellant called the third witness at 12.30pm. Members of the Committee asked questions of the Disciplining Officer, the Witnesses and the Appellant.

 

The Appellant called a fourth witness at 13.05pm. The Appellant and Members of the Committee asked questions of the witness.

 

The meeting adjourned at 13.30pm for lunch.

 

The meeting reconvened at 14.20pm.

 

The Chairman informed the Appellant the Committee had received copies of the missing reports the Appellant’s representative had requested at the start of the meeting and have reviewed them.

 

The Chairman asked if there was anything specific the Appellant would like the Committee to be aware of from those requested documents, which the Appellant’s representative replied “No.”

 

The Chairman also informed everyone the fifth witness will not be attending.

 

The Chairman called for the Disciplining Officer to respond to points raised prior to lunch.

 

The Chairman invited the Appellant and their representative to respond or to ask questions, which was declined.

 

The meeting adjourned at 14.35pm to enable the Committee to consider its findings.

 

The meeting reconvened at 15.45.

 

The Chairman thanked the Appellant and their representative for their patience and announced the decision.
